Celebration

To celebrate Utah gaining statehood, the Saints hung a large, hand-sewn flag on the Salt Lake Temple that remained there throughout 1896. This image accurately depicts how the flag was hung. There was no flag-displaying protocol at that time. See second image to view the photograph that Al found that inspired this painting.
